10 ways to be kind to your body today


Your body is your temple. You should accept it, love it, cherish it. That’s why I am going to share my top ten ways to be positive with your body. I believe positive body image is super important, especially nowadays.

I know. One list can’t transform years of negative thinking into positive body image. But I really hope to inspire you to take better care of yourself and start seeing your body in a different way, a better way.


1. Make a top ten list of things you love about your body

When I first started doing this ‘super simple’ exercise I was terrified. I was seeing so many flaws. But this exercise made me think and see all the things I love about my body. I know, it can be super intimidating but it is definitely going to help you focus on the good things your body has. You should definitely start with that because it will help you change the shift of your thinking.


2. Fuel your body

Stop eating tiny portions. Better eat to fuel your body with good food. Stop emotional eating, start making healthy substitutes of your favorite dishes and start eating normal portions. At first, it sounds scary to eat more but with time passing by your body will thank you for that. I spent 15 years of my life on different diets, trying to eat less and less. Guess what – that didn’t help. You just have to shift your thinking from “I want to lose weight to feel good” to “I want to give my body what it needs to feel good”. Trust me, the weight loss will be just another benefit. When you think about it this way you start eating mindfully and make better choices.

3. Exercise


Exercise is another great way to show your body some love. And after time your body will thank you. Don’t go into exercising just because you hate your body. Exercise because it makes you feel good, better, stronger. I remember some years ago when I had a long period of my life with no activity at all, I gained weight. Like 20 kilos. I decided it is time to change that. At first, it was SO HARD to start. My first sessions were making my cry. But the third time it felt better and with time I started liking the feeling after a workout. It became a great habit. Making me look better is just a benefit.




4. Move your body more

Yes, I am not talking just about exercising three times a week. Move your body more and in a way that is fun. Try dancing or yoga, whatever works best for you. I am super active person the last few years and I love the feeling. It definitely makes me love my body more and more. Especially when seeing the progress. Sometimes when I hear a great song on the radio I just start dancing – a song or two here and there make miracles. I also love adding yoga to my daily routine. I am a beginner but I love it, it stretches my body in so many great ways.

5. Walk

Walking is a proven way to relax your body and keep it in a great shape at the same time. I love long walks. You can do them alone or with a friend. Walking is always a great idea. Just walk and breathe. It is as simple as that.

6. Positive affirmations

Affirmations can be a great tool to developing and keeping a positive body image. I am a huge fan of affirmations as a whole. I also know many people having second thoughts about using them simply because they don’t believe in the power of a single sentence. Neither did I. But even I didn’t believe in them I decided to give them a try when I had my anxiety, depression, and eating disorder. And let me tell you a little secret – they helped. A lot. Start with something simple like “I love my body as it is. I am doing what my body needs and my body is thankful for that.”. Say it in front of the mirror every single day for a month. Think about it the whole day. And eventually this will become your truth.

7. Eat only when you are hungry

This one is important. It will be super helpful if you learn to listen to your body and eat only when you are hungry. And it is normal at first to eat more because your body needs to return to its normal state. I will give you super simple tip – when you feel hungry just a drink a cup of water. If you are hungry 5 minutes after that – eat something to fuel your body. This is the most simple trick you can do. After a month you will learn when exactly you are hungry even without the water.


8. Say NO to stress

Yes, I know it is hard and the truth is that it’s impossible to lose all the stress. Stress is healthy but in small portions. And I know we live in very stressful times. But you have to find your way to deal with stress – take a long bath, dance, meditate, do yoga, go for a walk, watch a movie. Just pick something that makes you feel less stressed. The options are limitless.


9. Surround yourself with positive people

People in your circle should be positive and supportive. They can lift you higher, help you win that battle and start seeing yourself and your body in a positive manner. My friends always help me, especially in that area of my life.


10. Thank your body

Thank your body every single day for all the protection it gives you, for all the energy. As I said – your body is a temple. A sacred place. Make compliments to yourself as often as you can. Develop the habit to be grateful for your body. Do it every single night before going to sleep.

After a month of implementing these strategies you will develop a better thinking of your body and your whole self. All you need is a moth. A few months ago I was working with a great lady and she thought me that all you need is 21 days to develop a new habit. Since then I developed few new healthy habits and it is the absolute truth. Give these strategies a month and you will thank yourself for that.
