The Fine Art of Dating Yourself

The Fine Art of Dating Yourself

Hello, lovely soul! Today I want to share with you a topic I really love to talk about – the fine art of dating yourself. I believe it is one of the most important things to do in order to love yourself.

Dating yourself can greatly help you develop self-love, which is something I think most of us struggle with nowadays.

To have a healthy and happy relationship with people in your circle you must first love yourself.

There are actually many ways to do that but we are going to talk about them later.

The moment I understood I was absolutely lacking self-love was the moment my whole life change completely. Of course, I struggle with that sometimes now too. Anyway, if you follow me from quite some time you maybe know I struggled with anxiety, depression, and an eating disorder.

I know, that screams lack of self-love.

After almost six years of having these mental issues, I decided it is time to change my whole life. I started doing many activities and most of them helped me with time. Helped me?! No, they absolutely healed my mind and body. But I really don’t want to bother you with my whole story, if you want to learn more how I completely healed from anxiety and depression you can check my book In The Eye Of The Storm: Cure Yourself From Anxiety And Depression.

I was around people all the time. I was constantly feeling the need to spend some time alone. And let me tell you – at first it wasn’t really comfortable for me to stop and take a moment to spend alone. I was feeling like an egoist all the time. But when anxiety and depression hit me I knew I needed to change that one thing and actually start enjoying my time alone.

Today this is one of my favorite things to do. Spending time with yourself can help you in any aspect of your precious life.

I believe that at the end of the day you will not only feel better but the people around you are going to be blessed by your choice. Hah I hope that makes sense! Not to mention the effect over your health and wellness!

I still remember my first date with myself. Although I was feeling really strange and confused at the end I grew to learn and love that time. I took myself on a long walk, then sat for coffee with a book. This is a pure example that going out of your comfort zone is the best thing you can do.

You need to develop a personal development plan for yourself, you need to take care of yourself the way you do for others. Because everything starts with a plan. I can help you with that. Here’s my absolutely knew course –

  • Cinema & Pop-corn

If you love watching movies you can date yourself on a cinema with some pop-corn. A good and funny movie is always a good idea and a mood booster. I used to go to the cinema every week a few years ago. Now I prefer the comfort of my own home but this is another idea for later. Nothing beats the clear sound and the big picture, right? Just take some pop-corn and enjoy the next 2 hours.

  • Long walk in nature & flower picking

Long walks are very refreshing, especially when you are surrounded by nature. Pick a place close to your home and enjoy a long walk. You can even pick some beautiful flowers t refresh your day and home. As I love to say to the people I work with – just stop and smell the flowers. Or take them with you. I love long walks, they not only help me relax but to think.

Coffee dates are simple way to relax and even get creative. It is the perfect date, especially when you are a blogger or writer.

  • Join a class

Yes, I know classes most of the time are filled with people. But I guess, most places have individual classes you can attend. It could be anything – yoga class, cooking class, dancing class. Whatever your soul craves the most. On the other hand, you can also try something you wished for a long time. You will find yourself and you will learn something new. Who knows, this could be your next biggest passion.

  • Yoga ritual

Yoga can be a great way to re-connect with yourself. You only need 10 minutes (of course you can make it way longer but 10 minutes is a great start). I started doing yoga when I had my anxiety and depression and it had a wonderful effect on me. Now I do it again. I aim for at least 15 minutes a day, sometimes more. Make it a ritual. You can do it in the morning or in the evening, whenever it is comfortable for you. Trust me, you will fall in love with the feeling yoga brings.
